    Anyone been to Toledo?

So, I'm heading up to Michigan the week after the 4th and lo and behold, the Bats are in Toledo for a series. Thinking about catching a game on the way and seeing some of our prospects. Anyone been to their park and care to share their experience? Is it usually crowded? What seats should I go for? Anywhere to eat before or after? Thanks in advance.

Neat park. Typical newer AAA park. No bad seats. Tony Packos is the place for pre or postgame. It is right across the street from the park. Can't beat it.

I'm going on Tuesday the 7th. I'm going to make sure I get some Tony Packo's. Hopefully I luck into catching one of Homer's starts...

As others have said, it is a very nice ballpark and really no bad seats. On their website you can actually pick out the exact seats you want so you can choose aisles, etc. Once you click on "Buy Tickets", indicate quantity, the pick a section from the pulldown menu by "Ticket Location" (use the diagram to guide you), then choose Section Layout and you can see the seats available. Once you enter "Continue", you can select "Show Section" and pick your exact seats (de-select any pre-selected seats 1st then click on the seats you want that are shown as available).

The Packos across the street from the park is good. It is a new one (within the last 2-3 yrs or so), not the original, but food and atmosphere are still good.

The Fricker's is in an old brick building forming part of the exterior of the ballpark don the RF line. If you get there at a good time you can get tables right by the big window that look out right on to the field. It is a nice location.

Bronze Boar is a neat hangout place for a drink pre/post-game. It is in an historic building also so has kind of a neat vibe. Depending on what you are looking for, there are also nicer "sit-down" restaurants actross the river at "The Docks at International Park" (Navy Bistro, Tango's Mexican Cantina, Real Seafood Co. etc)

You've got me thinking about that series, maybe I'll grab some tickets for Wednesday myself! Let me know if you have any more specific questions, etc.

I went to law school in Toledo -- the minor league park is nice. Tickets used to be tougher to come by, but that was back about 5 years ago or so.

I second the reccomendation for Tony Packos. Personally, I'd avoid any of the Cousinos places (Navy Bistro, Tangos, Real Seafood, and I think there's a cajun place too). Food is overpriced and fairly bland.

Cajun place was Gumbo's, but it is gone now. I have had some real good dishes at Real Seafood, but then again I am not a food connoisseur. I agree that Packo's or even the Frickers at the ballpark are the way to go, but that's more my style to begin with!

    Re: Anyone been to Toledo?

Saturday night in Toledo, Ohio, is like being nowhere at all
All through the day how the hours rush by
You sit in the park and you watch the grass die

Ah, but after the sunset, the dusk and the twilight
When shadows of night start to fall
They roll back the sidewalks precisely at ten
And people who live there are not seen again

Just two lonely truckers from Great Falls, Montana
And a salesman from places unknown - ces unknown
All huddled together in downtown Toledo
To spend their big night all alone

You ask how I know of Toledo, Ohio
Well I spent a week there one day
They've got entertainment to dazzle your eyes
Go visit the bakery and watch the buns rise

Ah, but let's not forget that the folks of Toledo
    Unselfishly gave us the scales
No springs, honest weight, that's the promise they made
So smile and be thankful next time you get weighed

    And wive and wet wive
    Let this be our motto
Let's let the sleeping dogs lie - ping dogs lie

And here's to the dogs of Toledo, Ohio
    Ladies, we bid you goodbye

Easy Street Cafe, just up Washington from the stadium is also a good place for a post-game drink. Lots of different brands of beer if that's your thing...decent food too...
