This is around the time the 1999 season started shaping up as something special. The Reds were in the midst of a 10-game winning streak, all against the Diamondbacks (100 wins) and Astros (97 wins). Seven of those wins came on the road in Phoenix and Houston. Man that was a fun season. I still can't believe they won 96 games and missed the playoffs. Wow.

If you look up "Arturo DeFreites" on Baseball-reference, you get no hits. But if you misspell his name as "Arturo DeFreitas", you get his name. When you click on his minor league stats, you once again find "Arturo DeFreites". Guy is so memorable, one site cannot agree on how to spell his name.
He had a monster year in Indianapolis in 1978, with a .327 average. 32 homers, 101 ribbies, .993 OPS. The next year, he's out of the game.

Yet, I remember the guy not one bit.

I can remember seeing his name in the Reds yearbooks for what seemed like years and years. I always wondered when he would get his chance since it seemed like he was always putting up good numbers. I suppose in the end he just your typical AAAA player.
