Does he do that a lot GOYA? If he does, you would think that soon ( I know we've been saying this for awhile) those will be shots over the wall.

Starlin Gerson pitched six shutout innings today for the DSL Reds, who won 3-0. He gave up two hits, struck out eight and walked nobody. He's a 6-4, 175-pound, 20-year-old (21 in August) righthander from the Dominican. Gerson is now 3-1 on the season: 31.1 IP 20 H 8 ER 6 BB 26 K. Might be somebody to watch.

Damn... 87-92 MPH for Stewart? I thought he topped out around 94-95??? Has he lost some velocity, or is the tree affecting my memory again?

No, earlier reports had him at 91-94 and even touching 96. He may be a little tired or his velo may have just been down tonight. I have noticed some nights Cordero throws 93-94, and others he heats it up at 96-98, so I would not be too worried about his velo being a few mph's lower.

I was just getting ready to comment on Gerson before I read your post. The numbers look pretty good and he's got a projectable body at 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds. He could easily add another 30-40 pounds and add some velocity. I'll be keeping an eye on him.

Yeah, he does it fairly regularly. He just doesn't have the bat speed and for his size, I don't know why. His main muscle mass is in his legs rather than his upper body but he doesn't seem skinny. He tends to hit warning track shots more when he's slumping which always makes me think he is doing something with his swing to try and generate more power but he can't hit for average when he does it. Personally, I wouldn't have any problem with him hitting .310 with a bunch of doubles.

Francisco with 2 errors gives him 24 on the season. Probably won't be voted the best defensive 3B again. Ondrusek with 4 WP. Nice outing from Otterness.
