A Fresh and Original Marc Katz Article

    http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayto...xtype=rss_reds

How many times can he rehash this same story? The horse is dead Marc...move one! How does he even find time to cover the Dragons when he's busy writing article after article about how he knows how to run a minor league system better than every other team in major league baseball?

I just left a comment as if I were Marc Katz. I hope someone notices it.

    That post is hilarious...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Cathy's post is a classic too....
"This isnít stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S. That's great! I thought it was actually Marc Katz at first even after you said that.

Wow I knew he'd do it again but so soon is mind boggling. Like a serial killer he is striking more often now, which means he is getting more angry. Quick someone call the BAU and put a stop to this.

He's like a 6 year old who thinks the Dragons are in the big leagues. Then one day he will learn that they're only little boys, and it will break his heart. I hope Gapper can make it better.

Because C Trent doesn't have the balls to stand up to the big bad farm director. It takes a special breed of sports writer to do that.

To be fair, Katz covers a low A minor league team in a small town newspaper. He does not cover the Reds. His job is to provide info and commentary for Dayton Dragon fans, not Reds fans. Imagine if the Dayton Dragons were part of the Yankee organization, and the Reds or Indians did not exist. I think we all would be mad at the Yankees for giving us bad players to watch.

The fact that he keeps writing the same article suggest to me that the readers of the DDN agree with him, and would probably like to see him keep it up.

It's only fair if it's a legitimate complaint and as far as I am concerned it's a pretty foolish notion for him to continue to harp on. It is what it is a minor league team whose job it is to develop players for their parent organization. In a few years or sooner he most likely won't have to complain as from top to bottom we should be stacked. Katz and his readers just need to be patient like everyone else and the trickle down will take effect. Just look at how the Bats have transformed over the past few years.

What's funny is he will complain now and then when they are stacked he'll have to start writing stories about players not getting deserved promotions because there is nowhere for them to go. Those stories too will be pointed at the same people with an evil eye. Katz is just a negative nelly, that is his style and it's wearing on a lot of people.

It's always something. If they don't place the top prospects there, he complains. If the top prospects go there, and get promoted follwoing good performance, he complains. The only suitable solution, per Katz, would be to have the top prospects there all year. Like a baby wants his bottle.
