    Saturday 7/04/09 Minor League Updates

    Happy 4th of July !

AAA - Nice pitching matchup here. Matt Maloney (2.30) goes against Ian 'I don't need no stinkin' fielders' Snell (0.00) as Louisville visits Indianapolis at 6:00 EST.

AA - The Mudcats of Carolina will send Camilio Vazquez (5.91) to face the Tennessee Smokies at 7:15 EST. The visiting Smokies will counter with Andrew Cashner, who will be making his AA debut.

High A - Sarasota visits St. Lucie at 6:00 EST. Jeremy Horst (3.35) hopes to improve upon his 4-8 record. The homestanding Luccis will flip a coin to determine Horst's opposite number.

Low A - Dayton travels to West Michigan for a holiday tilt starting at 7:00 EST. Dayton is hoping Curtis Partch (5.67) can help stop a three-game slide. The Dragons hope to set off some fireworks against whomever it is that the Whitecaps trot out to the mound.

Rookie - Shea Snowden (7.88) hopes to hop back aboard the bobblehead express tonight as he faces A Smith (can't they be more specific? there are a bunch of Smiths playing minor league ball.) Missoula comes into Billings at 6:05EST for this holiday hoedown.

Rookie - The GCL Reds travel to GCL Red Sox and have probably already completed their Independence Day affair. It started at 10:00AM EST. As is the norm, information on Gulf Coast action seems to be disseminated on a 'need-to-know' basis. Obviously, they do not feel that anyone from Redszone needs to know at this time.

Rookie - DSL began at 10:30AM EST. The same rules that apply to the Gulf Coast League seem to apply here as well. Keep turning that brisket. Updates will eventually follow. The DSL Reds are visiting the DSL White Sox FWIW.
Computer speed + DSL = Good. Minor League updates + DSL - Bad.

    I highly doubt Louy/Indy play

It's been raining steadily all day, and it's not stopping anytime soon.

Oh, and Fellhauer, a left-handed hitter, gets to start his career against LH Casey Crosby, the flame thrower who throws 96-97. Welcome to pro ball kid.

Dave Sappelt is enjoying his promotion to Sarasota. He went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases in his High-A debut last night, and he's 1-for-1 with a solo HR and a walk today.

Is Frazier close enough to being MLB ready to wear Cincinnati Red next year?
