    Thurston grounds to 1b.

Real, REAL, nice work from Josh Roenicke this game.

    Middle of 7, 8-0 Cardinals.

Quest for the improbabe 9-run comeback moves into the later innings...

Sounds fine to me, and I agree that Bruce could use some off-days against lefties.

I would for sure sit him against Hamels tomorrow...

Votto singles to RF to start the 7th. Quest for 9-runs is underway!

Phillips grounds out to 1b on the first pitch he sees. That's not helping the quest.

    Votto to second, one out.

Bruce triples to left-center. Probably should have been out at 3b, but throw was dropped at 3b. Weird risk to take.

Regardless, Reds are on the board.

8-1 Cards. Quest has taken its first steps.

Bruce lucks out. Why risk it there?

EE pops out to short CF. Why does EE hate the quest?

Two down, Bruce still on 3b.

Pitchers spot up, Nix pinch hits for Roenicke.

I agree with Welsh's comments that this team is more then one player away from contention. So why sacrifice prospects for that one player, risk the future, who may be only a rental, and probably isn't going to get us over that hump.

    Nix Ks.

Not liking the lack of support for the quest, Reds team.

Regardless, the first step is taken.

    8-1 Cards after 7.

Carlos Fisher in to face the Cards in the 8th. The evil Hoffpauer to the dish for St. Louis.

    Fisher walks Hoffpauer.

Does anyone know why the Reds relievers fear Hoffpauer so very, very much?

No rentals. But prospects fail and when they succeed it frequently takes a number of years. Team needs to be smart, but active.

Fisher has good stuff but his control is erratic ...which will lead to a trip back to AAA.
