She wanted to win and generally spent money on payroll. It's too bad she didn't have some people around her advising how important the scouting department was.
I find it hard to believe that no one told her, hey scouts are important.

For every organization, it's your lower level scouts that report to your upper level scouts, who report to the director of scouts.

Nobody has time to look at 10,000 players in person.

Your trust in your lower level scouts' opinions by your upper level scouts' opinions and the director of scoutings trust in the upper level scouts' opinions determines who you're going to take from probably beyond the 5th, 6th, or 7th Rounds depending on the time spent by the Director of Scouts. Those lower level scout's opinions are everything beyond the 10th Round.

This is a system that takes great communication more than anything and the willingness on Managements part to pay those lower level scouts for their time and expenses.

You can't get this right by reading some magazine like Baseball America.

Hernandez has a veteran presence. That trumps any stats you can come up with on Dusty's team.

    Dusty's consistent though. He bats the .900 OPS'ing since-he-came-back EE 8th.

EE: Two plate appearances, two times reaching 1st Base, two times stranded there.

Reds defense isn't the greatest either. They need to work on the middle of the order and hitting.

The only reason the REDS lose in 2009 is Dusty Baker.
