Just saw this over at Beyond The Box Score

Here are the whiff rates on specific pitches thrown this year by MLB pitchers:

Three of Arroyo's pitches are among the most hittable pitches in baseball this year. No wonder he has struggled so much this year.

I'm interested in finding out what Joe Blanton has been doing. He's striking out over 8.5 batters per nine innings this year despite having the league's most hittable fastball. What is he throwing as his out pitch? lol

I'm sitting down the 3rd base line tonight. Wright might knock my teeth out.

Looks like his slider has been pretty darn good this year.

His curve seems to be hanging up more than it used to and that sweeping curve he throws doesn't look like its getting as much right to left break.

Maybe we should post derogatory stats before every game he pitches. He just pitched a 4-hit complete game shutout on 115 pitches. He struck out 5 and walked none. It's games like this that make me think he could be a great pitcher if he'd study the hitters more, have a better catcher calling the game, party less, be more dedicated, etc. You know, like there's SOMETHING he's doing during these games that he could do for the other games to make the outcome more like tonight. It's probably just a difference in the Mets hitters vs. the Cardinals, but it doesn't stop me from thinking 'What if...?' I'm sure if it were that simple he'd have figured it out by now. I hope he can stay in the groove after the All-Star break.

The Louisville Bats ran out a tougher lineup than the Mets did tonight. I am glad Bronson did well the bullpen sure needed it. But I wouldn't get too excited.

Yeah, it's more Bud Harrelson than Daryl Strawberry. For Bronson, it's a nice change though.

Yep pimping his musical skills is demeaning to those who like music and minor league advertising at its finest, hence the partnership with a processed meat company.

Bronson Arroyo/David Weathers. Both are very hittable and dependent on luck.

Third time in the last 5 games that the Mets have been shutout, and they have scored 9 runs in their last 7 games. Averaging 2.2 runs a game the past two weeks.

I wouldn't declare Arroyo "fixed" yet.

As has been mentioned vs that lineup I wouldn't get too carried away although it was an improvement for Arroyo and a much needed break for the bullpen. But only 5 k's in 9 innings vs that same unimpressive lineup isn't impressive.
