Add another vote for Arrested Development; I absolutely love that show and wish it had stayed on the air. Another show I like that got canned way too soon is Pushing Daisies. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea but it was very original and interesting.

I would definitely include Sports Night.

I'm not sure that other RZ'ers would agree, but my wife and I really liked American Dreams and hated to see it get cancelled so soon. I wasn't sure how well they would pull off the series story line continuing later into the 60's, but it was entertaining nonetheless.

Sports Night - Loved that series, have it on DVD
Freaks and Geeks - Could you imagine where that show could have gone with the cast?
Prison Break - Liked the show but they did run out of story lines
Friday Night Lights - Liked the show but it wasn't conducive on Friday nights and then it went off basic cable. To me the show was canceled.

    Space: Above and Beyond
    Firefly
    Prey
    The Dresden Files
    Jack and Jill was decent.
Zoe Duncan Jack and Jane also decent.
I'd have liked another season of Battlestar Galactica

    I'll agree

I watched it with my kids. Stimulated a lot of discussion and reminiscing by Dad.

... It's still on basic cable Direct TV (I believe) gets to air it first, in the fall, but then it's on network TV for everyone else after that.

Also got renewed for two more seasons. One of the best shows on TV these days, IMO.

    Agreed. Also on Pushing Daisies.

I know we really liked a lot of these shows but sometimes it's better to have them cancelled sooner than later. Then you have a short period of greatness instead of that greatness and several seasons of mediocrity.

Dead Like Me was a great show that left too soon.

Yep. Airs on Friday nights on NBC starting in January for the next 2 years (at least). Last season was simply amazing.

As far as the topic I would agree with Terminator and I also really enjoyed Journeyman which was on a couple seasons ago.
