    45 years ago (1964), the Reds swept a doubleheader at Crosley Field vs. the Colt .45's--winning the opener 6-5 in 11 innings, and the nightcap 10-3.

The only hits for the Reds were a leadoff single by Cesar Geronimo in the first inning, a one-out single by Dan Driessen in the fourth, a two-out single by Driessen in the sixth, and a leadoff pinch-hit single by Ken Griffey in the seventh. In the top of the second inning, an official warning was given after Kison knocked down Dave Concepcion with a brushback pitch. In the bottom of the fourth, Billingham retaliated by hitting Kison with a pitch, igniting a brawl. Reds manager Sparky Anderson, Reds OF/3B Andy Kosco, and Pirates RF Ed Kirkpatrick were ejected.

    Richardson is another Red I have no recollection. I looked him up on Retrosheet and he came to bat 153 times for the Reds that season and this was his MLB debut. He later played a little for the Pirates and Red Sox. Probably the big reason I don't remember him and some others at this time, is about this time in 1989 I moved to Lexington, Ky for a new job that was basically a 2nd and third shft type job. So I probably couldn't pay attention to the Reds as much as I was used to before then.

    Seeing Stan Musial's name and seeing him last night really made me sad. I don't remember him as player but he always seemed like the nicest person you would have ever wanted to have known. I've read other peoples experiences of meeting him and saying he couldn't have been nicer. My wishes are for the best for him and his family as age takes its hideous toll on him.
