Didn't Geronimo later in his career become the 300th strikout for somene else? I'm thinking it was Carlton but not at all sure about that.

I was in attendance for this game. Little did I know at the time that I was witnessing Brandon Larson's final major-league appearance. I had seats in the next-to-last row of the upper deck, directly behind home plate. Actually, it's a pretty good view. I was sitting near a group of obnoxious Cardinals fans (every bit as bad as the Cubs "fans" who infest the place when the Reds play Chicago), who spent most of the game making fun of Joe Nuxhall after buying a souvenir cup that had Joe's picture on it. The Cardinals have had my hatred ever since. Of course, Adam Dunn's three-run homer off lefty specialist Steve "I dip my cap in axle grease" Kline shut them up and sent them heading for the exits.

    It was Nolan Ryan.

BTW, five Hall-of-Famers in that lineup (Gibson, Brock, Morgan, Bench and Perez). Three other guys who might guy in eventually (Rose, Torre, Concepcion). Add managers Sparky Anderson and Red Schoendienst. Heck, why not throw in a Marty Brennamen and Jack Buck in for good measure - along with a potential in Joe Nuxhall. Maybe Sy Burick and Hal McCoy were also in the press boxes.
    That's a lot of plaques.

I sure haven't been seeing my name much lately in the 1954 starting lineups. Guess I'm riding the pines and waiting to pinch hit with the game winning rbi.
