    Re: 7/17/09 Reds vs Brewers

A quiet Friday night, a house full of dogs glad to have some company (my parents are out of town...I'm house/dog sitting), satellite TV, high speed internet, a few coldies in the fridge and Reds baseball.

This isn't bad! I hope to watch an exciting, fun game! It's been a while since I've been able to actually watch one. George and Chris on the call, which will be interesting since I rarely get that experience.

The last time Arroyo faced the Brewers it wasn't pretty.... 1 inning, 9 ERs.

Good to see we've speed at the top of the lineup and OBP at the bottom. That Dusty sure does know how to build an effective lineup.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

An achy Dickerson is a better leadoff hitter than a healthy Tavares.

Both Braun and Fielder give it a ride, but the ball stays in the yard. 0-0 headed to the bottom of the 1st.

Thom and Cowboy were commenting on this extensively. They advocated batting Dickerson 1st, and hannigan second....wow. They specifically said that we need high OBP guys in front of Votto and Phillips.

EE still trying to pull everything in site, but manages to roll over on one enough that it dribbles down the 3B line and Gamel can't get to it fast enough.

    4 scoreless innings for Arroyo.

    1-0 Reds

Encarnacion singled to center with Nix on 1st and Cameron had the ball go through his legs allowing Nix to score and Encarnacion to reach 3rd.
