    Re: Organizational Leaders

I realize that RBIs are not a rock-solid stat--luck and lineups and all--but I do think that certain guys have a knack for them. And I think Juan Francisco is one.

    Anyway, here's RBIs:

    Juan Francisco 60
    Chris Heisey 56
    Todd Frazier 54
    Cody Puckett 54
    Byron Wiley 50
    Wes Bankston 49
    Kevin Barker 46
    Yonder Alonso 45
    Denis Phipps 44
    Zack Cozart 44
    Carlos Mendez 40
    Neftali Soto 35
    David Sappelt 35
    Miguel Rojas 33
    A Bunch of Guys 31

    Re: Organizational Leaders

Francisco is a misunderstood prospect. He doesn't walk, a real problem. He makes lots of errors at third, a real problem.

But for a power hitter, he seems to make good contact especially with men on base. He also has a high RBI total every year. And lots of extra base hits.

His strikeout numbers are not low, but for a power hitter they are pretty reasonable.

This is why I've always supported him on RedsZone. Like you say, he has a knack.

He's probably a year younger than his level indicates. My guess is he stays at AA next year and tries to show some polish and advancement.

I still consider him a top ten Reds prospect, although to read RedsZone you would think he's just a scrub.

    Re: Organizational Leaders

I like Drew Stubbs. Love his future ability as a leadoff hitter, actually.

But I still have a hard time seeing why anyone could take him right now over Chris Heisey. That boy has done everything humanly expected or asked of him. He's moved up to AAA, on the same level as Stubbs, and barely skipped a beat. If, and I don't think this will happen but it's nice to think about, he can maintain this power, why not envision an outfield of Heisey, Stubbs and Bruce? Move Frazier to third. Trade Alonso and therein you have your future Reds, provided they can find a shortstop (or maybe Doug's wish comes true and that winds up being Cozart).

Potential is the big deal with Fransisco. He has such amazing power but power will only get you so far. He could turn into a very good player or he could turn into the pitching version of Daniel Cabrera.

Yonder Alonso still has the eighth-most RBI's even though he's already missed over a month due to an injury.

I know it's early on some of these guys, but the numbers being posted by some this year aren't too bad, are they?

    Re: Organizational Leaders

Does anyone think Jeff Kennard deserves a look before the season ends? He's had a long path to AAA, but he's done an excellent job since joining the Bats.

I would not be surprised if he is recalled when Dickerson hits the DL. They dropped to 11 pitchers when Harang went on the DL and Rolen was activated. They'll use Dickerson's spot to add a pitcher IMO. Wells to the rotation; Kennard to the pen.

Kennard is not on 40 list are they going to put Dickerson on 60DL to open roster for him?

Nope but Harang, Richar or any of many others could be put there.
