    Torre- A Smart Manager

Last night against the cardinals tie game, runner on third 2 outs. They walk Pujols AND Holliday to load the bases and strike out Ankiel

I saw that, too. Swallow your pride, give yourself a better chance to win. There's nothing "macho" about pitching to Albert Pujols.

Seems like a pretty simple idea. I guess smart just means obvious now.

If the Reds did that, Ankiel would hit a GSHR.

Why wouldnt a manager walk 2 most dangerous hitters in the line up to set up a force play at every base? Seems pretty simple concept to me.

Pretty sure Dusty has done it more than once. I remember him doing it with Weathers on the mound before.

He's the Redzone Hal McCoy. At least according to his own definition of Hal McCoy.

Actually he's a very poor mans "Falls City Beer", with no offense to FCB.
