Weathers in for Masset in the 8th. He serves up back-to-back home runs. 5-3 Colorado.

He does, however, strike out Garrett Atkins. There's a guy the Reds should be glad they didn't acquire.

Weathers is done. Has been for a while. I'm tired of seeing him give up leads, allow opponents to break a tie game open, etc. At this point in his career, he is where Mike Stanton was before the Reds got rid of him---washed up!

Why was Hanigan hitting 8th in that lineup?

Was there ever an explanation for this? My father and I actually joked that Dusty would likely send Lehr to the plate only to pull him the very next inning.

    Then Dusty did it.

Every year I say "why Weathers" and he turns in a passable year in the bullpen to make me look silly. This year we might have gone a Bridge Too Far with him.

Was at the game last night. That was one dead, boring, lifeless game with the exception of the Votto/Phillips homers, the well-endowed young lady that walked around our section a bunch and the warm Cinnamon bread-sticks. We left at whatever inning that was when Weathers came in. By the time we got from the Champions Club to the crosswalk by the Freedom Center he had given up 2 runs. Good times!

That really was a mind numbing experience.

I think the explanation would be that he hasn't swung in a week due to his sore neck. Ease him back in and all that.
