    Re: 8/7/09 Reds vs Giants

Sandoval, the big gun in the Giant lineup, falls behind 0-2 on a fouled-off breaking ball and a swing and a miss on a 94-mph heater. Fastball stays outside. Another heater fouled away. Slider fouled away as well. Fastball stays away, 2-2. Yet another foul. And another.

Single up the middle makes it 5-3. Dang. Seriously, this Pablo Sandoval kid has just come out of nowhere this year.

I'd be interested in knowing the number of inherited runners that Masset as allowed this season, because it seems like it's every time he comes in.

Masset thinks about walking Molina (who has a grand total of six walks for 2009, making Willy Taveras look like Job) but Bengie refuses and pops up to short.

On comes ex-Red Jeremy Affeldt and his 1.50 ERA to dominate.

Quite the landing strip Affeldt's got on his face. It looks like he stuck a piece of Velcro on his chin.

He walks Votto to start the inning.

Out comes Affeldt. In goes righty Sergio Romo.

It looks dumb. Every time I see one of those I imagine the owner wearing an Ed Hardy T-shirt and rocking a barbed-wire arm tattoo.

Rolen goes after a breaking ball in the dirt and strikes out. One down.

Romo's sure got some slide on that slider.

    But he fears Wlady.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
