I really think Yonder had a setback, he still didn't play with GCL today. And I also think Mesoraco got hurt, he was pulled after one AB last night and isn't playing today

Interesting. I was talking the other day to a major-league official who knows the Reds very well, and he said those three guys would be his Cincinnati outfield. Only with Stubbs in center. I'm sure he would include Bruce under normal circumstances, but he expressed the opinion that Bruce would have been well-served with some time in Louisville this year, because his approach was thoroughly messed up.

I have to agree. Not an extended stay but enough to get his eye back without the big league pressure.

Owings is scheduled to start for the Bats on Monday.

Red Wings go up 1-0 in the 2nd. The run is unearned due to a Bankston fielding error.

edit: Now 2-0 Red Wings. Both unearned.

A 3rd unearned run in the 4th on a Valaika error.

    Code:
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
    Jukich 5.0 8 3 0 1 6 0 4.04
    Pitches-strikes: Jukich 94-56 - 60%

Jukich not as sharp as he has been recently but the defense has really let him down.

Carolina (Zach Ward) gave up 6 in the second. Man, it's hard to imagine a team whose starting rotation has been depleted as much as the Mudcats'.

    Travis Wood to Louisville.
    Zach Stewart to Louisville.
    Jordan Smith hurt.
    James Avery hurt.
    Alexander Smit hurt.
    Dallas Buck hurt.
    Matt Klinker to Louisville.
    Lee Tabor to Louisville.

No wonder they're struggling. I suspect that Curtis Partch, Scott Carroll and Jeremy Horst will hold their own, in good time, but that's an awful lot of pitching to lose.

Maybe a full rehab stint the end of this month, before he comes back to the big club in September, might serve him well,.
