    Tue August 11, 2009 Minor League Updates

    Bats just go ahead of the Pigs in the 7th

    Stubbs 2 for 4 w/double, SB #46
    McD 3 for 3 w/ double
    Heisey 1 for 3 w/HR
    Travis Wood 2 for 3 batting .400
    Denove 1 for 3 w/ double

    Bats up 2-1

    The DSL Reds won 8-1. Junior Arias went 2-for-4 with a Hr (#3) and 2 RBI. Yimmy Lopez was 2-for-3 with two doubles.

    Every time I see Stubbs and Heisey doing well and get excited, I see McDonald and remember that it's a long way from AAA to the bigs.
    Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Astorga: 5.0 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 4.44 ERA
    Chiu: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 9.00 ERA

    Carolina was off tonight along with most of the other teams in the Southern League.

    I have also heard that he is considering retirement but haven't be able to confirm that yet

    Unless his injury is life threatening or something is wrong in his head, I doubt that. He wouldn't retire totally when he was just starting to turn it on.

    Billings lost 6-2. Yorman finished 0-4 and Tyler Stovall went 1-4 with his first HR of the year.
