Looks like it must have been in 1955 as that is the only year they wore that particular cap.

I remember several years ago people gave Deion Sanders crap about adjusting the sleeves on his uniform to make them somewhat shorter. I wonder what folks would say about Klu if he were playing and did that these days?

For Klu, it was function over style. Deion was stylin' and giving props to Jackie Robinson, if I remember correctly.

I have heard tales that MLB wasn't crazy about big Ted cutting off his sleeves, but then again, I don't think they wanted to argue with those biceps.

It's hard to believe, but Big Klu was smaller than Scott Rolen.

I went to ST in the late 70's and will never forget walking up to Klu and getting his autograph. The man was an absolute monster.

I remember seeing pics of him and Bench arm wrestling in the locker room. I can't see anyway JB coulda beat Klu.

Those are some interesting uni's in general. They look like flannel pajamas with a belt.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

It's a shame the Reds are now so Klu-less...

(but great picture - thanks for posting it)

Excellent picture. It's rare to get a color photo with that type of detail from that time period, and that makes this photo all the more better.

I'd like to see C.C. Sabathia and Prince Fielder in that type of uni. On second thought................nahhhh.

Can you imagine playing in the middle of the summer in wool flannel? That had to be tough. I have never figured out how they got them clean from day to day. Being wool, you would think that they had to send them out to be dry cleaned.

The Reds could sell tickets to the game and to the gun show when Klu played.
