Ah, didn't notice that. Although I guess I should have. Game two only went 8 innings, and that was only because it went into extras!

This is something I just don't get. Jordan Hotchkiss--6 foot 4, 220 pounds, 23 years old--has been a decent but undistinguished relief pitcher for most of the season in Dayton. But on July 31, he was given his first start of the season and responded with five scoreless innings. Then, instead of staying in the rotation, he went back to the bullpen for two more mediocre appearances. What the heck? Finally, today, he got a second start, and pitched another five scoreless innings, this time allowing just one hit and striking out six.

For the season, Hotchkiss has thrown 57 innings in relief and given up 55 hits, with a 3.31 ERA. In his two starts, he has pitched 10 innings and given up 5 hits, with a 0.00 ERA. Obviously it's a small sample, but just for the heck of it can we please keep this guy in the rotation for a little while?

Good to see Valaika starting to turn things around. He's too good a hitter to be around Mendoza's famous line.
