I wouldn't go that far but I would like to see the Reds work on improving the quality of their starting pitcher prospects. 2-3 starting pitchers in the first 5 picks would work for me. (2-3 would depend on how the draft falls but a minimum of 2 sounds reasonable to me.) There aren't a lot of potential TOR arms in the minors now. Time to add some.
With a 78-84 record, the Reds will pick 12th in the 2010 draft.
BA's got an early ranking of the top 25 college and top 25 high school. At this point, I like seeing who the "local" options are. Right now it's:
Stetson Allie -- HS RHP (Lakewood, OH)
Justin O'Conner -- HS SS/RHP (Muncie, IN)
Jedd Gyorko -- INF (West Virgina U.)
James Paxton -- LHP (UK)
Bryce Brentz -- OF (Middle Tennessee State)
Paxton would be a good choice, assuming he still has that upper 90's fastball. If Bryce Bentz falls that far, it'd be criminal not to pick him. Perhaps questions about the talent level he faced will make other GMs question his?
Ok, with him playing his first game tonight, I just thought I'd like to mention how incredibly unfair it is that Washington will have Stephen Strasburg throwing to Bryce Harper in the future. Insane.

At least they won't have Aroldis Chapman pitching the next gameOk, with him playing his first game tonight, I just thought I'd like to mention how incredibly unfair it is that Washington will have Stephen Strasburg throwing to Bryce Harper in the future. Insane.
I may be crazy but if the Reds were "fortunate" enough to wake up tommorrow and be able to acquire Strasburg AND Harper for the contracts that the Nationals will be paying them...I would pass given the risk and budget constraints they would cause. Then again, maybe that's why I'm not a GM.

What is your opinion of Harper, doug? Aside from good prospect, I mean. (That much is obvious.) Is he a generational talent, a la Junior, ARod, or is he more along the lines of Adrian Gonzalez, a very good but not great prospect/ player?
Man that swing is pretty! Crazy that he shoud be a junior in HS right now.
Didn't know they used wood bats in JUCO, btw.
