With the Reds fighting for a top 5 pick this season, we might as well get some talk going on this subject...

because it's gonna take several million to sign a Top 5er next year. If the Reds really are gonna lose 15 million this season, I can't believe they'll continue to shell out money for youngsters much longer. They need to start winning now, and that build from within, for the future plan will be going bye-bye for the win now, so I can make money to cover my losses plan.
Early word is that there's good talent at the top next year.
Here's one take on the top 10 college prospects:

In the next 10 months all of these rankings will likely change a few times. My preference is for a starting pitcher.
I see OSU's Alex Wimmers gets a mention. He went to Moeller and his dad's family was in our parish (his aunt was in my class, I think his dad was a year ahead of me).

I like the size of Ranaudo, Pomerantz & Taillon. Ranaudo's still fairly young and has big game experience. Pomerantz is a colloege lefty which would be nice. Tallion has a big arm for a 17-year old.
If they go with a bat, I like Brentz, but I'd rather see them come out of the draft with a TOR starter.

top pitchers taken by the Reds in the Draft I think I would pass, The Reds have no luck or skill to develop these guys so go with the big stick.
I didn't realize Wimmers was that good, I saw him pitch a few times (he went to my high school) and never struck me as a great pitcher but he's been doing very well at OSU from what I've heard.
