Sounds interesting, sounds like a Reds type selection in the 2nd as of late. I like Yordy Cabrera as a 2nd rounder if he is still there, doubt it though.

A name to watch that may surprise is that of Kyle Parker out of Clemson. His family has been in discussion with Colorado and San Diego. The kid has some huge decidsions to make.

Parker is the starting QB for Clemson and definitely would be drafted by the NFL if he would commit to another year at Clemson. He would be a senior next year and has an arm like a cannon. I've seen him play both sports and the kid is absolutely an athlete. he plays right field for the baseball team.

Keith Law reported this about an hour ago:

It appears the Cincinnati Reds, at pick No. 12, are going to take Chance Ruffin from the University of Texas at Austin.
He was a starter until this year where he had success as a reliever. I wonder if the Reds are thinking they might be able to use him this season out of the 'pen? Didnt work out too well for Ryan Wagner.

It did for half a year. Not saying the Reds should or would draft him based on his ability to help the bullpen immediately, but could they be looking for a quick fix?

I wouldn't be a fan of that move, but I have faith in this scouting department.

I have faith they won't pick many busts but not sure they are capable of finding a Jay Bruce or Jason Heyward type of player. They are just so safe when they pick IMO.

This was from Law's chat this afternoon:

    Roy (Paterson, NJ)
Which player in your latest 1st round mock makes the majors first?

    Klaw (3:21 PM)
Wimmers or McGuire. Ruffin could be that guy if he goes in the first.
This is probably what the Reds are thinking if they pick him.
