Heisey 2 for 2 with a double. I hope that is a sign.

Bats 4-2 during the top of the 3rd

I won't be able to post more tonight. Somebody jump in if you want.

According to Gameday, Heisey just hit a inside-the-park homer! Bats lead 8 - 2!

Three pitchers for the DSL Reds (Luis Lora, Samuel Vasquez and Daniel Martinez) combined for a 1-hitter today, striking out 14, in a 4-1 victory.

Starlin Gerson of the DSL Reds threw a complete game no-hitter a week or two ago.

Heisey's inside-the-parker was the first by a bat since 2004. He is a triple away from the cycle.

We miss Goya. Louisville has 16 hits, leading 12-4 in the eighth. Del Rosario has been very effective in relief of Lecure.

Sarasota wins 8-5 in spite of three home runs by St. Lucie. Dave Sappelt's three hits put him at .303. He's been a hot fella. He's been hitting cleanup for the last week or so, and doing it well. Three RBIs tonight.

Billings lost game 1 of a DH 5-0. Game 2 is in progress, no score after 1. Wiley gave up one hit in the top of the inning, but he was erased, caught stealing. Yorman Rodriguez singled in the bottom of the first.

    Casper Top 1st

    * Avery Barnes bunt grounds out, second baseman John Dao to first baseman Thomas Nurre.
    * David Hernandez singles on a line drive to right fielder Efrain Contreras.
    * With Nolan Arenado batting, David Hernandez picked off and caught stealing 2nd base, pitcher Jacob Wiley to first baseman Thomas Nurre to shortstop Cristobal Rodriguez.
    * Nolan Arenado grounds out, third baseman Frank Pfister to first baseman Thomas Nurre.

    Billings Bottom 1st

    * Cristobal Rodriguez pops out to first baseman Chad Jacobsen.
    * Yorman Rodriguez singles on a line drive to center fielder Avery Barnes.
    * Efrain Contreras flies out to left fielder David Dinatale.
    * Tyler Stovall pops out to third baseman Nolan Arenado.

Re: Friday 8/21/09 minor league updates

Jordan Hotchkiss continues to pitch well in his conversion to starting, and Dayton wins 5-3. A couple hits by Alexis Oliveras carry him to .311. Cody Puckett hits his 18th HR.

A thought, out of the blue, on Puckett. He's not a big guy but seems to hit like it. Word is, though, that he's not much of a second baseman. Might he be a candidate to switch to catcher? It's probably too late to convert guys like Francisco and Frazier, who might be within a year of the big leagues (if not less), but Puckett has a ways to go. He's apparently a better athlete than infielder. I don't know a thing about his makeup, but on the surface he seems like the kind of player suited for such a move.

Billings should've thrown out another runner in the 2nd, but the 2B garbled it. No harm, Casper didn't do anything after that. Billings went down 1-2-3, no score after 2.

Can't say I know who Chris Richburg is, but he led off the 3rd with a homer, 1-0 Billings.
