What a sad tragedy. All I heard on the news for three straight days was to avoid going near the water if you even bothered going to the beach because of the waves and riptides. That was in NJ and NY. The hurricane was much closer to the coast in Maine. The warnings were there.

My sister in Boston was talking about the waves...I can't imagine going out to observe them like that! I feel so bad for the girl who went out with her parents, the very people whose primary responsibility is her physical safety and welfare.
