    2010 SS for Reds?

    Bobby Crosby

    http://www.mercurynews.com/sportshea...=1&forced=true

Seems like a Walt type of guy...

Forgive me if I'm wrong doesn't he have some kinda ties to Walt?

Also before you roast me I am not advocating at all for him. But since we might need a 1 year stop gap to figure out if Cozrt is the guy, Might actually worth a 1 yr 3 mil kinda deal...

Seems like a low risk move to me. If he's what he has been its better than what we have, if he rebounds, Kudos to Walt.

Maicer Izturis of the Angles should be available, probably not on a 1 year deal but I would take him and not wait on Cozart.

You mean Bobby Crosby, the Oakland SS? Bubba at SS is probably something we don't wanna see

If Izturis plays above average D I would love to have him in the lineup, I really have no idea about his defensive skills though. He would be a great 1 or 2 guy in the order an hits the ball pretty well an consistent, not to mention if we still have Dusty our SS will be batting #2 anyway.

Izturis plays a good SS. Good hands, Accurate Arm. Not sure about his range though... only 4 E's in his last 71 starts / 76 Games at SS the last 2 years.

My guess is he is the Primo get at SS in the offseason. Probaly looking at 4 / 32 for him which is not to bad but out of the Reds range.

I am hoping we pursue Scutaro.

But prepare yourselves for the Paul Janish Era, 'cause it's 'a comin'.

Has a URZ of 4.1 at SS lifetime...

    Crosby - 2007 .278 / .341 / .619
    2008 .296 / .349 / .646
    2009 .294 / .365 / .659

Shows an improving albeit terrible OPS over the last last 3 years in a extreme pitchers park with alot tougher pitching in the AL West than we have here in the NL Central.

Going probaly 50+ games a year against Weaver, Lackey, E Santana, Saunders, Millwood, Padillia, Feldman, Holland, Bedard and King Felix in 3 Pitchers parks and one hitters haven. (Texas)

Has a 6.8 URZ at SS at Lifetime...

    Gonzo - 2007 .325 / .468 / .793
    2008 DNP
    2009 .258 / .296 / .554 (Cincy)
    .243 / .378 / .621 (Bos)

Shows a declining OPS In a extreme hitters park in the NL Central

Going 50 Games against Wainwright, Carpenter, Pinero, Loshe, Zambrano, Gallardo, Looper, Duke, Oswalt and W Rodriguez in all neutral (St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Milwalkee) or extreme hitters parks. (Houston, Cincy, Chicago)

I would almost a change from AL West to NL Central would bump his OPS .03 - .05 alone. Playing for a payday and starting everyday could factor in as well...

    I say its worth a $2 - 3 Million gamble...

If Janish is our plan for next season, I might not watch a game next year...

Janisch is the man and is going to be good. Mark it down.

    That's a bold prediction.

I admit that I think that he might be capable of being average for 1 season(I base this on nothing at all, it's just a hunch). While that is a stretch saying he might be good is almost like saying Taveras will have a .350 obp and hit 20 HRs next year. It's not going to happen.

If Taveras hits 10 HR's next year there ought to be a full blown PED investigation in the clubhouse...

    Re: 2010 SS for Reds?

I'd rather have Sidney Crosby play SS than Bobby Crosby.

Actually, in all seriousness, it just seems like another guy that couldn't get it going in one locale, and we are hoping a change of scenery will benefit him and turn around his career.

Granted, playing in Great American Ballpark as opposed to that hitters graveyard/junkyard out in Oakland would probably help out his game a lot.

Janish stays at SS. Rolen, Janish, BP and Votto represent a sound defensive infield. The other three make up for Janish's lack of offense. Saves $$$ so we can focus on the SP sitch. I really don't mind Stubbs' lack of offense as an everyday player next year either... All around upgrade from Willy, and he can be surrounded by some pop in FA or Balentien/Gomes/Bruce

Even though he has played 2B recently, how about brining back Felipe Lopez for the SS job?

He'll only be 30, and he's hitting over .300 with an OPS over .800 this year.
