I think there is to much water under that bridge...

No, no...he'd disturb the club's 'plan' of excellent defense matched with great pitching...

Yah, you're probably right. Our best bet would just be to bring back Juan Castro!!!

Taveras should never put on a Reds uniform again. Release him as soon as he's off the DL. Find a fake injury for the rest of the season. Trade him for some extra infield dirt.

ANYTHING BUT BACK IN THIS LINEUP!

Why don't we find the worst players out there and sign them.

    Wait, we do already?

Anyway... I would just as soon see Janish out there at SS for 145 Games as to any of the players mentioned above...

I wouldn't count out Valaika just yet. Yeah, he had a rough 1/2+ season, but after the DL stint, he is back more like his '08 Reds Minors Player of the Year self.

I'd give just about anything to see Janish improve his performance at the plate. Not asking for much at all, just maybe 250 / 330, and a home run every 3-4 weeks. Pretty sure we'll never see that happen, though.

Sucks, because he is *so* good defensively.

But I'd rather see Janish get the job for good than leave it up to Walt Jock-er-ty to go out and find some second-rate clown who nobody else wants (ie = Taveras).

Its a shame this season was thrown away by Dusty when it came to noticing which players were better than other players. I will never stop being amazed at how he buries guys when they arent his guys. There was a point in the season where Janish was Dustys 5th option to play SS.

Trade Cordero and Arroyo for one Shortstop even if we have to eat $11M next season to get it done. That should get us an above average Shortstop.

Sign Josh Horn and invite him to Spring training. See what he has got.

Rob Neyer wrote about the Ray's middle infield depth. Could be a good trade partner for the Reds:

If it's Bartlett that they try to move, who from the Reds organization would you be willing to give up? And remember, Tampa Bay wouldn't be able to take on payroll, so no Arroyo or Cordero.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

I'd give up anybody to get a great Shortstop, but the age of the shortstop would have to coincide with the REDS' chances of winning the World Series. Right now, that would mean that the Shortstop would have to be 25 or less right now.
