Why is Matt Maloney at AA?
Why is Matt Maloney at AA?
Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.
The sent Maloney to AA and Fisher to Sarasota so that they could return to the club when those teams' respective seasons end. If they had gone to AAA, they couldn't be recalled for 10 days.

somewhat related question, could they have sent them to Dayton or is that considered bush? By going to dayton, they'd be able to stay in their apartments in Cincy, or wherever they were staying, while helping Dayton reach the playoffs before coming back up. Of course, I'd also assume that is kind of an "unwritten" rule of baseball that one does not demote a player to help a low level team make the playoffs, but is there an expressed rule regarding this?
No, there's no rule against it as Bruce and Hanigan could play for the Bats in the playoffs. But then, they are on rehab assignments. Maloney and Fisher have options and that's what matters. Plus, with the possibility of Dayton going to the post-season, it might extend how long they have to wait before coming back up.
Then there's the Reds org rule that Marc Katz must remain pissed off at all times.
thanks, that is what I suspected Goya. However, lets say the Reds decided to sent Maloney down to Dayton for the rest of the season, didn't really care when he got back to the Reds, would the South Bend parent organization call Shenanigans on the Walt & Co? Just seems like one of those things that would be an unwritten rule. Of course on the flip side, I'm guessing Maloney wouldn't be too thrilled to be stuck in the low A playoffs rather than up in the majors trying to prove his worth to the Reds or another organization.
I love to "call shenanigans!" I didn't know anyone else did that!
I doubt that there are any MLB teams that are that concerned about winning Low A championships.
