    Re: Da Bungles

I was at the Cincy/Denver MNF game back in 2004 (?) and was harassed. A group of guys about five rows ahead of me thought it would be a great idea to spend the entire game throwing peanuts at the back of my head and shout obscenities at me. And I was rooting for the same team they were.

    I haven't been back since.

I have been to roughly half the games played at PBS, though none this year or last. I have seen some fairly ugly behavior but nothing that involved me directly or anything that would have prevented me from coming back. The family that had the tickets in front of ours used to bring their kids quite a lot and they said the trick was to get in the stadium early and not to go back on the concourse at halftime.

Hopefully no one had to go to the restroom at halftime.

Sorry to hear that. Was that the MNF game or was it the Sunday night game for the "Cincinnati Fusion" weekend where they had OSU-Bearcats, a Reds home series and the Bengals Sunday Night game? I was down there that weekend but didn't go to the Bengals game. My cousin who has season tickets was at the game that night and said that people were out of control drunk because it was also Oktoberfest weekend and a lot of people had gone to the Reds game, then hung out all day at Oktoberfest, then went to the Bengals game. He saw a lot of stuff going on that night that he'd never seen at a Bengals game before. Of course, he also went the the MNF game that was their first MNF game in ages and said that one was crazy too, but not as bad as the Sunday night game. He's of the opinion that those night games are nuts because some people just have too much time to drink before the games.

That was the Bengals vs Dolphins SNF game in 2004. Reds played the Cubs in town earlier that day...I had to run that game at the station, and then headed down to PBS to meet my step dad and his son in law.

Thankfully, we had no problems, but I'm sure there were plenty of problems elsewhere.

Okay, that's right. I was actually at the Reds game on Saturday night, in between hitting Oktoberfest and then heading to the Hofbrauhaus after the game. So the Broncos would have been the MNF game. Was it that same year or the following? In any case, it sounds like those night games can get out of control.

Same year. The Broncos game was a few weeks later. I was supposed to go to that game with my friends, but got stuck running it at the station. At least I was able to sell my ticket.

I wasn't happy, but it was my fault

    Re: Da Bungles

I have had season tickets for the past 4 years. The only reason my friends and I kept the tickets this season was because our seat license was finally paid off. This year, as well as in the past few years we have sold our Steelers tickets. The games are just not fun. A lot of the Steelers fans that go to the game are obnoxious, drunk, and a holes. I chose not to go to that game, so I go to about 7 games a season.

The Bengals screwed themselves last year. Their record was abysmal and having Mike Brown as your owner doesn't help spur on season ticket sales. I am somewhat surprised that Hard Knocks didn't spur on more ticket sales, but again a bad year and seat licenses will prohibit sales.

The cost is the most prohibitive element of going to a Bengals game. I probably drop $30-50/game in parking, tailgating, concessions, and that doesn't include the ticket I have prepaid for. I can't imagine taking someone else or a couple of kids. It just doesn't make sense. If the Bengals wanted to sell more tickets, or sell out the rest of the season, lowering ticket prices would be a start.

I was also thinking about the economy and its effect on ticket sales. Three of the largest companies in the Cincy area, PG, GE, and Fifth Third Bank, have all seen significant decrease in their stock prices, and both GE and 5/3 have seen dividend cuts. With as many people losing so much of their net worth over the past year, it doesn't make sense to go out and spend ~$100 to go to a Bengals game.

A well placed source (my 14 year old cousin) said Chad Ochocinco claimed on U-Stream tonight that he would buy any tickets that remain at the deadline tomorrow.

I have no reason not to believe that, if it indeed was said. Chad is many things, but a liar is not one of them.

3000 tickets left and the NFL is going to blackout a game in the local market. Silly rules. It amazes me every time it comes up that these archaic rules based on "TV is a detriment to attendance" are still on the books. Sort of like blue laws, as if our nation is less holy because of beer sales on Sunday.

Well, Chad OchoCinco has announced that he and Motorola bought the remaining tickets for the game. Nothing official from the club, but interesting. I guess he was telling the truth.

Nice gesture. I assume they can then turn around and give them to charity for a tax write off.

Heh. You'll have to be there a LOT earlier than 11:30 if you want to get free tickets.
