I can't imagine the Reds wouldn't protect him. Even if he never plays for us, Walt will see that he's valuable in a deal. Personally, I hope he gets a shot in Cinti.

I don't know. The Roster is pretty crowded and the spring training snub and the sketchy PT in AAA make me suspect he's not in the Red's plans.

I just don't expect Walt to be enlightened enough to recognize Dorn's value.

I'd protect him ahead of Valaika, whom I don't think will draw any interest in Rule 5.

I'd protect him too. I just don't think the Reds will protect him. They'll choose to keep Willy and/or Lincoln over Dorn.

I was immensely impressed with Del Rosario in that series. Ondrusek, too, although he had been impressing all year.

    And Dorn, of course.

Denove's interesting. Do you think he's got a chance to be the other half of a catching duo with Hanigan next year? Again I'd prefer the Reds get a really first-rate catcher but realistically we're not going to be able to fix more than a couple of the holes we've got and we're going to just have to make do as well as possible with the others.

I think that would be rushing Denove but it is possible. And he kinda came out of the blue. Let him show that bat again at AAA.

When Denove came up to the Bats, both his OBP and SLG went down. But his BA rose 40+ points.

Dorn was the best player in the series.

    Bruce was perhaps the worst.

    He's really, really struggling.

If so, what a shame. The guy has gone further than any of his Cal Fullerton teamates that won the NCAA title, even though every one of them went ahead of him in the draft. He has been across the board the best hitter on every team through the Minors-- except maybe when he had a teamate named Bruce. A Gomes/Dorn platoon (Lefty-Righty) projects to hit a lot of HRs and drive in a bunch of runs. And, would be cheap to free up $$ for other needs. The garbage about a late draft choice never going far, is bull. If so, why bother to make late round choices? And oh yes, where was Piazza drafted?

Jocketty will protect him. If not, he'll deal him for value before the Rule V.

    No need to freak out.

Ricky Romero is 12-6 in his rookie year with the Toronto Blue Jays. Former Red
farm hand Justin Turner made his Major league debut with the Orioles last week.

I'd be fine with them re-signing Ramon Hernandez. I doubt he'll get any big money offers
