    Re: Drew Stubbs

The numbers I've seen suggest that GABP has a very significant HR boost (115-120) and a very significant 3B depression (60-70) but doesn't do much either way for doubles.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I agree with that. I'm just wondering if a good portion of that double stat not really being much different is due to the horrible OF defense we've had since GABP was built. I think if a normal OF defense had been employed, I think we'd see some greater variation.

Another excellent catch by Drew Stubbs today, plus he doubled high off the wall in LF. He won't continue hitting homers at a 35 HR pace, but man, he has been fun to watch since coming up.

Here's video of his catch today:

I agree, OBM. He may not continue hitting at a 35 HR pace, but his power looks legit to me. He's not getting texas leaguers out there. These are shots that he's hitting.

Solid grab by Stubbs, but Gomes really needs to work on the celebratory ass slap.

Almost looked as awkward as Tiger Woods and Steve Williams high fiving.

Probably not, but lets hope he can keep up his 40 HR pace....

    Re: Drew Stubbs

Doc Rogers said today that the Reds should trade:

    To the Devil Rays
    Willy Taveras
    Drew Stubbs
    Jay Bruce

    To the Reds
    Carl Crawford
    BJ Upton

He then went on about a twenty minute tirade about why Drew Stubbs stinks. Mixing stats from the minors with the majors, and declaring that he can't take walks, will never make enough contact, his power is a mirage, and that Chris Dickerson is more athletic.

    Doc Rogers = TRF??

While I would LOVE for that trade to happen, why in the blue Hell would the Rays do that?

Granted, Crawford's gonna get expensive for their blood, but why give up on BJ Upton?

And why would they want Taveras or Stubbs? Hell, while I'm asking questions, why would they want Bruce after his 2009?

Now if the Reds wanted to get creative, they send a slew of players (including Alonso) to the Rays for Carlos Pena, and we get serious about this experiment of Votto playing LF.

Carlos Pena and his .220 BA might not be as fun to watch up close...

i think that's kind of unfair to TRF. yes, he is skeptical of Stubbs and has pointed to his reasons, which i would say at this point the majority of people don't agree with him on. but, he is a fair guy. when stubbs produces, he notes that and e-pats him on the back. like all of us, he wants the reds (and stubbs) to succeed. so i don't get the doc rogers comparison.

It was just meant to be a comment on the uncanny resemblance to the arguments that TRF has been making about Stubbs for years.

    There wasn't any malice intended.

except for the part where I have NEVER said he can't take a walk.

I'm sure they are dead on.

I've stated that unless he starts hitting for power, and the HR's seem to be there though the doubles aren't showing up, which is kinda odd, that his OBP would suffer.

it's getting better, but overall his MLB OBP kinda blows.

If someone wants to disagree with me, fine. But don't make stuff up that i never said. And since I have been the loudest anti Stubbs guy, ask the biggest pro Stubbs guy (dougdirt) If I ever said he couldn't take a walk.

Okay, sorry. Please respond to my PM next time you want to vent at me.

I never said you said all that stuff word for word.
