Maybe he was a better hitter than manager. Or, maybe his team was not real good. Or, maybe this might give the Reds an idea? Probably not.

I didn't see that one coming at all, especially with the season so close to being over. I kind of thought he might get fired during the offseason. What exactly will firing him now accomplish for the team?

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Knowing the Reds, they'd probably get the wrong idea and replace Dusty with Cooper. I don't see that as an improvement.

He had a record of 171-170 as Astros manager, which would put him up for a multi-year extension with the Reds.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

So what was Cooper's problem? Not a very good team or was it him? I don't know their situation much.

Since managers have been traded before, the Reds need to trade Dusty to the Astros for Roy Olswalt. Heck, I'll even throw in Willy T, just to be nice.

To be honest, I expected it several months ago. I thought before the season that he'd be the first manager fired this year. He lost that team quite a while ago.
Chapman to the rotation!!!! Do it already!!!!

He clashed with quite a few of the players on a personal level. They've also caught him in out-right lies to the club before. It's a matter of the team not respecting him. Some of the writers here in Houston thought it was just a matter of time considering all the crud that's gone on these past 2 years. Sure, the second half surges were nice (if you're an Astros fan...which I'm NOT), but there was always the conflicts going on in the background...but they were winning so who cares.

I recall one of the stories earlier this year when Pudge hit some sort of milestone (can't remember which one), and instead of congratulating Pudge, Cooper holds a team b*tch-out session. It really went over badly with the club according to Richard Justice (their beat reporter).
