    If he's healthy, Hildenbrandt.

I would go with Rojas to continue his improvement at the plate. If Wiley can improve his power numbers a touch he could be in AAA by years end. Pitchers Ill go with Fairel and Valiquette to show the most improvement.

    Alonso, of course...

Though, he's already had a "breakout", I'm also adding Matt Fairel to make a real splash and enter Top-10 status on the REDS' Prospect's list.

Mike Leake will be at AAA before 2010 ends.

    I'll second that call.

Can the guys who will likely be ranked second and third in the system really 'breakout'?

Maybe he thinks those guys are going to breakout and become a couple of the best prospects in the game? I am not sure.

Good question. That's why I went with Hildenbrandt earlier. Seems to me that a whole lot of people mentioned on this thread are no longer "breakout" candidates. How about some more reaches, real come from nowhere type "breakouts"?

Despite a .644 OPS in the FSL, Soto posted a strong LD% of 22.4, which suggests there was some bad luck involved in his struggles. I expect a bounce back season from him in 2010.

Honorable mention: Devin Mesoraco. His statline didn't look pretty but he walked at a solid clip and showed some decent power.
If you adjust for park and luck over at minor-league splits.com, this is what you get for these two guys:

    Soto: .313/.344/.446/.790
    Mesoraco: .279/.356/.455/.811

So, yeah, they look like pretty safe bets to "breakout", as long as they get out of the FSL.

With that, I agree with Josh Ravin.

until they actually reach their potential, they're disappointments. I'm still waiting for Jay Bruce to break out.

You can interpret "breakout" any way you want, I guess. I like to use only the off the radar guys -- so-called "non-prospects" -- but, on this board at least, those guys are getting harder and harder to find.

I'm going out on a limb and predict Billy Hamilton adds at least 40 points to his BA and 60 points to his OBP.
