What if the Cardinals win the World Series

Would that mean the game would be on Opening Night (night before opening day) ? Since the champ of the previous year plays on Opening Night

I'll predict the Dodgers over the Yankees in a 6 or 7 game classic World Series.

That would mean things turn right once again and the Reds open the season, the way God intended. Of course, then they have to play.

Yeah that sucks that the Reds don't have the first game anymore...

Hmmm, a new reason to root for the Cardinals.... that would be awesome. I bet ESPN or the national networks would still screw us out of it haha....

I remember we played on opening night several years back though (ray lankford hit two bombs at old riverfront for the Cards). How'd we get it that year?

That was 1994. World Series title not that far in the rear view mirror. The Reds were still considered one of the "big boys." Of course, that year's team was playoff bound until the strike hit. And I thought I remember Lankford hitting two homers as well, but according to Retrosheet, it was only one. Maybe it's just because it lead off the game (and season) that it feels like he hit two.

Yep, that was a fun and decent time to be a Reds fan, the decade of the 90s. 1 World title, 1 NL pennant, 1 NL West title, 1 NL Central title, (back to back if you count 94), 3 first place finishes, an NL MVP (Lark), 1 game playoff, 5 winning seasons (90, 92, 94, 95, 99), and not that it matters but a .500 season (96); hey .500 is better than having a losing season!

Did the Cardinals get eliminated? I thought it was a best of 5 not 3. There have been 0-2 comebacks in a best of 5. I am not a Cardinals fan but just hoping for a continued good series as it has been thus far.

I'm pulling for the Cardinals because of Pujols, their fan base, the fact they're from our division, and of course because we might get opening night next year. Never give up hope!
