As a Vanderbilt senior with no college eligibility remaining, Christiani and the Reds were not subject to the Aug. 17 signing deadline. The Indians selected him last year in the 32nd round but did not come to terms.
I assume he went to Instructional League.

He started out pretty strong, but in 2011-12 his k/9 was under 5. This year it's back up over 8 k/9. What's his story?
According to Hal McCoy's article, he's developing new pitches as we speak. And they are working. Nice MLB Debut 1.1 IP 1K, 1 BB.

It was a nice debut. Smart kid, armed with a new cutter and guided by maybe the best pitching coach in the game. Could be a nice addition to the pen.
I think he was 92-94 last night with some decent horizontal movement. Smaller stature, but overall interesting. I'd like to see some more.
