The above comment caused me to do a brief check to see how many noteworthy MLB players from 1956 are still with us. This is a partial list based upon a quick search: Sandy Koufax, Carl Erskine, Willie Mays, Bill White, Dick Groat, Bill Mazeroski, Roy Face, Lindy McDaniel, Whitey Ford, Luis Aparacio, Rocky Colavito, Al Kaline….

Larson was the epitome of randomness in baseball. Never a very good pitcher but when he got a chance in a World Series game he made the most of it. Of all the pitchers who have started World Series game he would have been one of the last you would have thought would have thrown a perfect game. RIP Don Larson

MLB Network will show the perfect game that Larson threw at 4 PM on January 4th. There is a recording of most of the game. They have showed it before. You can by watching this game how far televising game has come in over 60 years.

Only eight St. Louis Browns left now
At one time, the only two Yankee pitchers to have pitched a perfect game were Larson and David Wells. Both pitched for the same San Diego HS, just up the street from me. Then David Cone pitched one and ruined a perfectly good trivia question.

Not baseball related, but, Sam Wyche passed away today. Both of the Bengals SB head coaches are gone now, after Gregg passed away last spring.
