I run AVG, Avira and I just downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials to try. I've used Avast! in the past and liked it also.

Avast is all I use, never had a problem, and it's free. It's really not worth it, to pay for anything in this area, IMHO.

Just an update: I decided to go with Microsoft Security Essentials, and it seems to be working fine. Two things I don't want in and antivirus software are false positives and lots of bells, whistles, and audible announcements when something is blocked. This program seems to fit the bill. I couldn't really find any negative reviews for it, so that influenced my decision.

Help stamp out, eliminate, and do away with redundancy.

I have been running MSE for a month or so, and so far I like it. I run another prog alongside it for now just to keep it honest.

Avira, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner seem to do the trick for me.

i thought AVG Free was wonderful, then i went to the paid version, and its incredible how good it is. there's just something fun about how it detects things on the page and only partly downloads sections as a result.
