Does anyone remember back in 1998 when Larry Flynt asked Marge Schott if she would sell the franchise to him? Stereotypes about the man aside, he has MONEY and was willing to use it.
Does anyone remember the reason why he didn't purchase the Reds?
I used to work hoot-owl shift at a local radio station that broadcasts ESPN radio all night and I remember ESPN doing an interview with Flynt and he said that it was not a publicity stunt that he wanted to buy the Reds and turn their franchise around. He is a legit Reds fan and cares about the success of the organization.
Now before I make my next comment let me say that I am hard line conservative of the Christian faith and a man of morals, but don't tell he wasn't allowed to buy the club simply because he worked in porn? If thats so then Selig has been running MLB like Communist Russia. I remember Selig telling him that there was no way he would be approved to buy the Reds...
My point of this post is does anyone remember why the sale didn't go through? And if it was because of Selig's comments again WHY?
Frankly I don't give a frog's fat @$$ (yes I'm of the Christian faith but I'm not perfect) what Flynt's industry is, bottom line is he has MONEY! Wish someone could persaude him to buy the Reds. He has what it takes to turn this club around.
