I lived in the Bay Area for a long time, and how exactly does San Francisco not get pegged on this list. They pride themselves on being strange. I guess it's a PC thing. California as a state is off-the-chart weird, too. Their governor is the Terminator.

Salt Lake should be higher. Everytime I've been there you don't see anything in your face strange, but you get this creepy vibe.
How does Austin not even make the list. Their motto is "keep Austin weird", they celebrate Eeyore's birthday for gosh sakes. It's not San Francisco, but it's still weird. The hippies have bumper stickers that talk about not letting Austin become as "normal" as San Antonio, but San Antonio made the list?

I had to laugh when I saw Cincy at 6 and Des Moines at 13. It looks like the criteria they used were AP stories and adjusted for population. If a large city had around the same number of weird stories as a smaller one, the smaller city would rank higher. I remember posting a couple stories on here about someone in Des Moines assaulting someone with a bag of Cheetos and another with some kind of fruit or vegetable.
I have a shirt from Chuy's that proclaims just that

I'm surprised the South wasn't well represented. Florida was; no surprise there. Maybe, as in the California Bay Area, that 'strange' is 'normal' there all ready, so it's really not that strange. Do you follow?
Baltimore's weird, as is New Orleans. Austin's faux weird, not weird weird. SF is a lot of both.
This place is weird in a really terrible way: http://www.tonopahnevada.com/
Idaho is flat terrifying.
