now we'll see if he can walk the walk.
He should have been an NBA player like his hero (Jordan). If he was we would only be amazed that he didn't have 7 or 8 kids by different women.

He did read from a script yes.
I however disagree, I think he did fine. This wasn't him begging for forgiveness from us specifically, just him putting himself back out there in the public eye. Its a baby step towards regaining some of his status.

Well, it was certainly unlike any other prepared public apology we've seen from athletes or politicians before. I can see why some liked it and others hated it. The difference with Tiger's, IMO, was that this seemed to be something he wrote himself as opposed to a professional speech writer working at a PR firm. It was absent a lot of the platitudes you generally see from these.
I've watched those types of apologies and always thought they were insincere and totally contrived (i.e. Kobe Bryant). His "performance" might have been awful from a PR standpoint, but from my perspective it seemed real at least. Tiger isn't a public speaker...clearly. But I got the impression he wanted to do this himself to show that he's genuinely sorry for his "transgressions". Even if he's not genuinely sorry for his actions, he at least seems genuinely concerned at how it has impacted those around him such as business partners and friends.
Personally, I'd rather see this type of apology than the type we've seen from Arod or Bill Clinton. Another thing that was in stark contrast to the norm is that he was super critical of his actions. Usually we here about how they're sorry that they've hurt their family or hurt the game but rarely is someone so openly candid about how wrong it was that they did.
So I give his performance a negative but I walked away thinking he was at least somewhat genuine. I really think Tiger is going to walk the walk on this one. He's not like Jordan, IMO. I think he meant what he said regarding how he thought his fame and wealth entitled him to the temptations that come with it (how many people have ever said something like THAT?). And I think this really has impacted him in ways guys like Jordan aren't. I think 10 years from now no one is going to question if Tiger was sincere in his words. At least that's what I hope. But I think we'll know one way or the other.

in the end it does not matter what he said or how he said it. It doesn't matter if he is contrite at the moment. What matters is will he make the changes in his life necessary to live up to the responsibility of being a husband and a father. I hope he does because in the end it is best for him, his wife and especially his children.
Interesting comment from one of Tiger's "alleged" mistresses:
A woman in her line of work didn't think there would be tons of attention as a result of having an affair with the most famous golfer in the world? Totally clueless.Veronica Siwik-Daniels, one of Woods' alleged mistresses and a former pornographic performer, watched the event with her attorney in a Los Angeles radio studio. She said she wants an apology for the unwanted attention the scandal has brought her.
"I really feel I deserve to look at him in person face to face in the eyes because I did not deserve this," she said. - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100219/...lf_tiger_woods
I am curious as to why those who were of the opinion that he didn't owe the public an apology and that it was a private matter between his family and himself or those who said they were only interested in Tiger as a golfer watched? It seems to me that if you held either of those two opinions you would not be interested at all as to what he would have to say in this public mea culpa.
Gloria Allred held a press conference yesterday announcing a cease and desist order against the company, Creative Classics for a new product, Tail of the Tiger “Mistress Collection” golf balls. The golf balls depict artist renditions of 12 of Tiger Woods' mistresses. Today, Veronica Siwik-Daniels (who also goes by the name Joslyn James) released her statement through Gloria Allred’s website regarding her view on the novelty item.

Here is her statement, “I have come forward today, because I feel that it is wrong for a golf ball to have my picture on it because golfers hit their golf balls with a lot of force. As a victim of violence myself, it bothered me to think that someone would be standing with a dangerous club hitting a ball with my photo on it.
I was in love with Tiger and because of what he said to me and the fact that we were together for so long I believed that he loved me too.
I don’t think that Tiger would want my picture on a golf ball and I know that I don’t.
I agree with Ms. Allred that this can lead to violence against women and it must be stopped.”
In addition to the violence that Gloria and her client believe the golf balls pose, Gloria Allred also announced that she sent a cease and desist letter to Creative Classics (click here for the story), the company has vowed to take their fight to court, and refuses to stop sales of the Tail of the Tiger golf balls.
During the press conference, which you may see in the full video below, Gloria Allred demonstrates the act of hitting the golf ball with a large golf club, illustrating Veronica Siwik-Daniels point of view that this is an act of violence.
