It was absent a lot of the platitudes you generally see from these.

I've watched those types of apologies and always thought they were insincere and totally contrived (i.e. Kobe Bryant). His "performance" might have been awful from a PR standpoint, but from my perspective it seemed real at least. Tiger isn't a public speaker...clearly. But I got the impression he wanted to do this himself to show that he's genuinely sorry for his "transgressions". Even if he's not genuinely sorry for his actions, he at least seems genuinely concerned at how it has impacted those around him such as business partners and friends.

Personally, I'd rather see this type of apology than the type we've seen from Arod or Bill Clinton. Another thing that was in stark contrast to the norm is that he was super critical of his actions. Usually we here about how they're sorry that they've hurt their family or hurt the game but rarely is someone so openly candid about how wrong it was that they did.

So I give his performance a negative but I walked away thinking he was at least somewhat genuine. I really think Tiger is going to walk the walk on this one. He's not like Jordan, IMO. I think he meant what he said regarding how he thought his fame and wealth entitled him to the temptations that come with it (how many people have ever said something like THAT?). And I think this really has impacted him in ways guys like Jordan aren't. I think 10 years from now no one is going to question if Tiger was sincere in his words. At least that's what I hope. But I think we'll know one way or the other.
I'm with you and pretty much have been all along, I thought it was fine.

He basically said that he did what he did because he thought normal rules didn't apply to him. I didn't expect him to say that, but at the same time I wouldn't cared if he came out said "I don't owe any of you a damn thing, have a nice day."
"I know a lot about the law and various other lawyerings."

The only thing that I can say with certainty after all this is that, somewhere in New York City, there's a writer hard at work to have a Tiger Woods Press Conference skit ready for the next episode of SNL.

I didn't watch but read the transcript. There were 2 main problems 1) didn't explain what happened that night a few months ago 2) didn't take questions. IMO, it was just another attempt to control information to keep it from going places he doesn't want it to go. However, instead of answering the question of what happened he tried to bury it all over again and it won't go away until he gives some plausible explanation.

He wants the story to go away but without an answer the speculation and interest will just continue. I think his handlers did him a huge disservice by not having go before the press and deal with the issues right after it happened. They tried to control this like the do everything else but it certainly hasn't worked in his favor this time.

The golf balls depict artist renditions of 12 of Tiger Woods' mistresses. Today, Veronica Siwik-Daniels (who also goes by the name Joslyn James) released her statement through Gloria Allred’s website regarding her view on the novelty item.

(Click here for Previous Stories: Tiger Woods)

Here is her statement, “I have come forward today, because I feel that it is wrong for a golf ball to have my picture on it because golfers hit their golf balls with a lot of force. As a victim of violence myself, it bothered me to think that someone would be standing with a dangerous club hitting a ball with my photo on it.

I was in love with Tiger and because of what he said to me and the fact that we were together for so long I believed that he loved me too.

I don’t think that Tiger would want my picture on a golf ball and I know that I don’t.

I agree with Ms. Allred that this can lead to violence against women and it must be stopped.”

In addition to the violence that Gloria and her client believe the golf balls pose, Gloria Allred also announced that she sent a cease and desist letter to Creative Classics (click here for the story), the company has vowed to take their fight to court, and refuses to stop sales of the Tail of the Tiger golf balls.

During the press conference, which you may see in the full video below, Gloria Allred demonstrates the act of hitting the golf ball with a large golf club, illustrating Veronica Siwik-Daniels point of view that this is an act of violence.

    hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahah
Is Siwik-Daniels mad about what it represents, or that she isn't getting a cut of the profits? For someone who isn't happy about unwanted attention, she seems to be making a lot of public statements in this matter.

I still don't get why he "needs" to answer questions about what happened the night of his wreck. I fail to see any relevance to it. He wasn't drunk, no one else was involved, and he's not under any suspicion of wrong-doing. So why does he need to let the public know the details behind it?

I've read some criticisms by some pundits suggesting that he needs to answer questions. I might be missing something, but I'm curious as to which questions he needs to answer publicly? What is it that we don't know already that "needs" to be known? I'm a little confused on this.

IMO its the only way it goes away, otherwise he will always be hounded about what happened that night.

But that doesn't answer why HE needs to. That's basically saying that the reporters want to know so he's going to have to answer to them. I don't agree with that. Just because the media *wants* to know does not mean they are entitled to it. Maybe from a PR perspective it might be a good thing. But as far as what his obligations are and what should be *expected* of him, I don't think he has any need to answer questions.

And people say "what happened that night" like someone was killed or something, like it's some great mystery that needs to be solved. Dude wrecked his car just outside his driveway and no one else was involved. Why is it so important that we understand "what happened that night"?

Yeah, that's the part that really stuck out to me as well. How many people in his situation have ever come out and said something like THAT? I can't think of any. Most will talk around it, say very generically they were wrong without really talking about what they were wrong about and why they did it. But rarely do public apologies bluntly admit to selfishness and arrogance due to fame.

Here's the quote. It's very, very honest and self-condemning.

"I stopped living by the core values that I was taught to believe in. I knew my actions were wrong, but I convinced myself that normal rules didn't apply. I never thought about who I was hurting. Instead, I thought only about myself. I ran straight through the boundaries that a married couple should live by. I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn't have to go far to find them.

"I was wrong. I was foolish. I don't get to play by different rules. The same boundaries that apply to everyone apply to me. I brought this shame on myself. I hurt my wife, my kids, my mother, my wife's family, my friends, my foundation, and kids all around the world who admired me."

Completely agree. What happened that night occured in his house and was an a private issue. Just because we would all love to know every detail doesn't mean we are entitled to that. He said he wasn't going to talk about it so that's it.

I just saw a shot of the conference on the news. It already looks like an SNL skit.

He doesn't have to answer that question but if he doesn't it won't go away. He can make it go away by weaving a believable tale, it doesn't even have to be the truth.

What I want to know is why Nike doesn't make apology gear? I listened to it live, but I just watched the video and I didn't see a swoosh any where.

Also I think that it's clear that he's going to go back to his old ways. He pretty much gave it away near the end.

I look forward to seeing my fellow playas on the course.
That's not mine, but I thought it was funny.

If it's just a question that he thought he was entitled fine. He says he knows that wasn't right...then why is he going through months of therapy?

Is there a sex addiction component to this or not?
