Red Sox add to collection of Ramon Ramirezs

    http://soxblog.projo.com/2009/12/sox-claim-ramon.html

INDIANAPOLIS _ The Red Sox claimed pitcher Ramon Ramirez off waivers last Friday and he has until Wednesday to accept or decline the claim.

Before you try to figure out why the Sox claimed a pitcher they already have on their roster, this Ramon Ramirez is a different Ramon Ramirez.

The newly-acquired Ramon Ramirez was placed on waivers by the Reds last week and claimed by the Rays. Tampa then released him before the Red Sox grabbed him. Ironically, both pitchers are represented by the same agency and both are right-handers with good change-ups.

The Red Sox are calling the newly-acquired Ramon Ramirez "Deuce" and the current reliever "Uno."

If you let a player go and a team like Boston picks him up (via Tampa), you might start to thinking you made a mistake in letting him go.
