    Great Plains - Great Lakes
Really Cold - Even #$#%% Colder
Brats - Metts (I like this one, although it doesn't test well outside of I-275)
    German - Polish
    Paul Bunyan - Johnny Appleseed
    Corn - Soy

That Brats-Metts one would test well anywhere in the Big 10+2 - especially in Wisconsin.

Someone on another message board suggested Great Lakes-Heartland. Not bad.

Here's one blogger's idea of some trophies the Big 10 missed out on.

John Clay of the Lexington Herald Leader has some names for the Big Ten's divisions. He also has invited readers for their names. Some pretty good ones. I like Foreclosed Farmers division and Former Assembly Line Workers division.

Whatcha gonna do when the Big 10 ego-mania runs wild on you...

    *Changes Channel*

All this is, is the Big 10 network trying to fill time inbetween football, the bowls, and basketball. Its a cheap knock off of the ESPN awards show I would bet that they'll run probably sometime the week before the Heisman or the week before "championship weekend" in (insert city of title game here). They just have a more inflated ego of themselves at B10HQ nothing wrong as long as it produces $$$.

I'm a big fan of Arrogent and Self-Important. These titles seem to fit the Big 10 bigwigs and their fan-bases pretty well.
What if this is as good as it gets?

I kind of like the names.

Of course, I am a Buckeye fan so I am arrogant and self-important.

I hate the names, but given the non-geographic nature of the divisions and that future expansion will effect the alignment, I guess there weren't a ton of appealing names to choose from.

Anything would have been better than what they chose. Anything

I preferred Bloods (Ohio State) and Crips (Michigan).

    That brings up another annoyance.

Silly just silly, at least the Pac 12 got it right, this is as bad as what the ACC did.

You got to try and setup your two biggest tv draws for an extra game regardless of just how bad one of those teams have been recently. I mean ACC did it to try and setup FSU vs Miami have either team even made it to an ACC title game since expansion to 12?

It's a stupid way to try and setup things because so many other factors could really mess it up.

Re: Big 10 looks for 12th team

The reaction was immediate, deafening and nearly unanimous.

The Big Ten blew it with their pretentious, self-aggrandizing and over-the-top naming of its two six-team divisions.

Now, four days after being universally eviscerated, the conference is having second thoughts. And, best of all for everyone involved, they appear open to changing the abomination that is “Legends” and “Leaders”.

I'll believe the Big Ten conference stuffed shirts are open to changing it when I see it. Delaney says they're open to changing it, but only after the first year. And we all know how willing to change things that already exist these guys have been in the past.

I still can't believe they actually decided on these names and thought they were a good idea that fans would like. Goes to show just how out of touch these guys really are.
