Halladay to Philly, C Lee to Seattle?

The Phillies, Blue Jays and Mariners have agreed to a trade that will send Roy Halladay to Philadelphia and Cliff Lee to the Mariners, according to an SI.com report.

The terms of the deal have not yet been reported, although the Blue Jays were reportedly willing to pay some of Halladay's salary in the right trade. Lee and Halladay are both in the last year of their contracts, with Lee owed $9 million and Halladay's deal calling for $15.75 million in 2010. The Phillies are currently working on an extension with Halladay that would keep him in Philadelphia long term. He went 17-10 with a 2.79 ERA over 32 starts in 2009, spanning a league-high 239 innings.

I'm guessing one of the players the Jays get will be Dominic Brown.

Is Halladay much (any?) better than Lee? Or would he be easier to re-sign since both are free agents next year?

    Wow, indeed.

I hope they get more than that for their troubles.... They need to get at least 1 premiere prospect in this kind of deal.

Is C Lee one of the most under rated players in all of baseball? Its not often you see a LH former CY Young award winning pitcher who was nails in the post season moved that following off season.

Cliff Lee is going to be incredible in the AL West. With Lee and King Felix, not to mention the rest of that staff, Seattle could very well knock the Angels from the top of the division.

I'm guessing Philly gives up a couple-three prospects and Seattle throws in Aumont or Morrow (and possibly another lesser prospect).

Their GM seems to be building a team around world class defense, on base skills/lefties offensively and pitching that suits safeco. It's great to be an Ms fan these days and those that have something major to complain about pretty much seem to fit in with the "cincinnati.com" type of crowd.

I really don't understand this from a Philly perspective ... why not just keep Lee AND the young talent. Saves money as well.

Seems like a trade just for the sake of doing something.
