Dear Santa.. I Wish My Reds..

I am bored as a Reds fan this offseason. I missed out on RedsFest this year and the hot stove has been more like an ice box. So I'm compiling a few moves to have Santa put under our Reds holiday tree.

Trade Francisco Cordero and Chris Dickerson to the Tigers for Jeremy Bonderman and Alex Avila

Trade Bronson Arroyo, Kyle Lotzkar, and Chris Valakia to the Angels Erick Aybar

Trade Arthur Rhodes to the Marlins for PTBN

    Sign Vladimir Guerrero for 2yrs/16M

Sign Chin Ming Wang 1yr/5M w/ Player Option @ 8M

    Reds Opening Day Roster -

    SP:

    Harang
    Cueto
    Bailey
    Wang
    Bonderman

    RP:

    Masset (Closer)
    Burton
    Herrera
    Viola
    Owings
    Fisher
    Lincoln

    Positions:

    Hanigan - C
    Hernandez - C
    Votto - 1B
    Phillips - 2B
    Aybar - SS
    Rolen - 3B
    Janish - UTL
    Sutton - UTL
    Bruce - RF
    Stubbs - CF
    Guerrero - LF
    Balentine - OF
    Taveras - OF

With these moves the Reds don't gain any payroll and they don't gain much if any. These moves not only keep payroll where the team likes but also fills many needs for this team. A RH power bat to place between Votto & Bruce, a young solidified SS of the future, and a catching prospect for 2010 to compliment Ryan Hanigan. What would you ask for?

I like some of your ideas... but calling Vlad a RH power bat is a bit misleading. His best days are long gone, and his only hope of continuing to be somewhat productive is as a DH. His knees, and more importantly his back, is all but shot. I would pass on him to be sure.

Signing Johnny Damon to a 2 year/24M deal to play LF would not be a bad idea if I had a wish.

If I had a wish it would be that they wouldn't do things like that.

I can think of worse things than having him. Might even teach most of the Reds the art of actually putting the bat on the ball.

I'd be into a Damon deal if it were more reasonable on the money side.

Trading Arroyo and Cordero will weaken the pitccing staff big time. Wang and Bonderman are to suspect to be counted on.

Ask yourself.. Are those players going to be here past their contracts? I think Wang and Bonderman together can put up numbers you are used to seeing with Harang and aguy like Masset or even Burton could be a cheaper option at a lower price tag. Heck you could even sign Capps.. Still not CoCo but you add offense which is where this team lacks.

Then hire him as a Hitting Coach for a lot less money.
