Since I don't see it here, yet, this thread is over.

Yankess picked up Jason Marquis for Melky Cabrera and two others.

The Yanks picked up Javier Vazquez in that trade.
Jason Marquis was signed by the Nats yesterday.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

I think the Yankees are looking at a repeat. I hope I am wrong. I hate them. Oh yeah, money doesn't matter in baseball.

Well they are operating within the framework, not their fault.

Until enough folks(owners) complain about it, it's not going to change.

However I think the Have-Nots are fine with their terrible teams and their profits.

Until the fans stop showing up in droves, it's not going to happen.
Unfortunately the fan bases in NY, Boston, LA and Chicago can pretty much support all of baseball by themselves. As long as those teams continue to compete, MLB will still be making money.

    PEACE

I think that in a year or two, one of these guys - Frazier, Dorn, Valaika, Cumberland, Stubbs - will be ready to replace Dunn. They won't hit as many home runs as Dunn, but they should have similar OPS. - 757690, July 22, 2008

Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009

Certainly they are operating within the system. I don't blame them for doing what they do. They have the resources to buy (or at the very least compete strongly for) championships every year and so they do.

The system is still flawed. That is not an earth-shaking revelation, I know.

Well I had another fantasy thought today that maybe we could trade Harang, Dickerson, and Janish to Giants for Renteria and Jonathan Sanchez

    Other trade possibilities:
Reds acquire Linebrink White Sox Acquire Taveras, Lincoln

Reds acquire David Dejesus Royals acquire Dorn and Lincoln

Reds sell Rosales to some Japan team.

Reds acquire Asdrubal Cabrera, Jhonny Peralta, and Jeremy Sowers///Indians acquire Yonder Alonso, Chris Valaika, Paul Janish, Matt Maloney, Willy Taveras

Reds acquire Scott Hairston///A's acquire Juan Francisco and Sean Watson

Reds sign Tejada or Felipe Lopez to play SS?

Reds acquire Maicer Izturis, Matthews Jr., Ervin Santana,////Angels acquire Arthur Rhodes, Aaron Harang, Todd Frazier, and Nick Masset

Make fun of the thoughts but oh well. Worth throwing it out there

I think the Angels/Reds trade would be the best while the Giants/Reds trade is probably the worst since Edgar Renteria is only known for his defense like Janish and Sanchez is not proven even though he threw a no-hitter.Anibal Sanchez threw a no-hitter a few years back and you never really hear nothing from him anymore. So ya

None of those trades make the Reds any better than they are now, IMHO.
