Can you remember a more dull off-season?

I personally cannot. It pains me to go on Redszone every day and see no topics of news.

I agree Reds news has been scarce but it could always be worse.

Last year on this date the Reds signed Willy Taveras.

The difference is this season I'm expecting squat and will be delivered squat. And sadly, I'm actually ok with it. The Reds front office has fully graced the presence of mediocrity and shows no signs of trying to shake that label. Apathy has set in.

I'm pretty much agreeing. Last year I don't even remember a Harang to the Dodgers type rumor [I'm sure there were some] but basically this it two non-eventful off seasons in a row thus far.

But last year brought Taveras, Hernandez, and a 2 yr deal for Lincoln all of which generated much angst or debate. Then there was the Rhodes signing and the Gomes/Nix pickups which answered the much debated question about what was going to happen in left.

This year has been mostly crickets.

Re: Can you remember a more dull off-season?

Couldn't you say that this year has been the debate on whether or not to pick up Gomes, the release then re-signing of Nix, & the question about Hernandez' return.

Add in the Harang and Arroyo rumors along with the whispers of the Counsels and Carrolls of the league and this season could be considered more exciting.

I realize this is the proverbial 'eye of the beholder' conversation. Both have been excruciatingly boring bordering on horrid.

Well they signed Nix and Burke after much soul searching, what more do you guys want?
    Duck incoming
    .....

I mean gee just think of all the round table hours that Jocketty, Bavasi, and Baker must have put in for you guys to come to those horrendous decisions. We still await with bated breath what the prognosis on Willy T will be.

Seems like the non-tendering of Gomes has made more noise than last year's Willy Taveras disbelief, and Hernandez is an after-thought for both offseasons. At least this offseason, the Reds have been rumored to be buying players or selling players. Last offseason, we weren't in any rumors, IIRC.

I get your point, but, I am not sure that doing nothing is, because stagnation can be going backwards.

Very true. Sometimes the best moves are the moves you never made.

Oh, I'd rather go forwards, but I am not sure if this FO has a map for doing so. Or knows how to ask for directions.
