Not Terrence Jones anyways. Committed to Washington tonight.

I'm kinda worried about our wings next year. We will be fine in the backcourt with Knight and Lamb, and in the middle with Kanter, but we are going to need somebody else to step up big time on the wings. Darius Miller, I am looking at you.

Even if we get Thornton, he is a year or two away from contributing anything significant. He is more of the Jon Hood type of freshman that sits most of the first year instead of logging major minutes.

EDIT: Terrence Jones has yet to sign a LOI and he talked to Cal for about 15 minutes after making the decision. Looks to be waffling on his decision and said he made it "spur of the moment". I'm almost hoping now that he stays in Seattle because this will be a NIGHTMARE.

Hoping he stays in Seattle is silly. We need him in the worst way imaginable.

Yeah... that made me look stupid. ha. He "silent verbaled" earlier this week, Tuesday I think, hence why Leslie went to NCSU on Wednesday after all out outlets reported he was almost certainly a lock to UK. He even reached out for the UK hat before grabbing the UW hat, succumbing to the hometown pressure, he said he wasn't sure what he was doing, he just grabbed it...haha. Coach Cal and Antigua were really upset, and his dad isn't very happy, guess this whole thing is going to be hashed over this weekend at their house.

I think he ends up at UK when the dust settles.

I'll admit. I geeked out and watched it. You could tell the kid didn't know where he was going. It was kinda awkward.

Ok, picture this, you are a fan of somebody other than UK. You know Kentucky has the shadiest coach in the business and a program that has been in trouble with the NCAA before.

You've watched Kentucky bring in three top recruits for 2010 and two more for 2011. The most recent, the coach had been recruiting for three years and had a longer relationship, but Cal STILL won out.

Now you have Terrence Jones, who chooses Washington at a press conference. After talking to Cal for 15 minutes after making his decision, he has yet to sign his LOI, and his very much in play for Kentucky again.

Now, UK fans know this is just the surface and that this runs a lot deeper(Jones called Cal, but it is being spun a hundred different ways now). This is what the average fan is going to think though.

I personally hope we get Jones because we need him. He fits the DDMO perfect and is going to be a major part of a 2011 team the following year that I could see winning it all. I just hope that it is worth the headaches that are likely going to follow with this.

If you believe the Seattle Time reports about Cal's phone conversation:

Kentucky coach John Calipari called Jones after his announcement and Jones was on the phone for a very long time. About 15 minutes. Reading body language, Jones seemed pained.

He told me, "You hurt thousands of people just as much as you make people happy."

Jones' mother said if he hadn't chosen Washington, he was going to pick Kentucky.

    So it's already ugly. Great...

Most of me wants to believe Cal wouldn't say something like that to a kid, but part of me...

Anyway... the kid should have waited until he actually knew where he wanted to go. One of his teammates did it. Told the masses that he hadn't decided yet, but he would by the deadline. Nothing wrong with that.

Well, rereading that reporter's stuff, the "he" in the above quote is Jones, talking to the reporter. Not Cal talking to Jones. That's good.

UK doesn't have the 'shadiest coach in the business' and I really wish you'd stop typing crap like that. Roy Williams has more NCAA violations on his record than Cal. So does Coach K, Coach Pitino, Coach Calhoun etc. etc. etc.

You should also check out the all-time list of NCAA violations by school. UK is way down the list of all-time offenders.

I could care less what the 'average fan' thinks. Almost less than how much I care what UK haters think. Seriously, you're over-thinking this thing way too much. Fans will ***** for a couple days (UL fans excepted, they're in perpetual *****-mode at this point) and then everyone will move on.

I just care about UK finding a couple more guys who can play the post. If T. Jones realizes he made a mistake and allowed himself to get swept up in the emotion of the moment and wants to come to UK, you accept him with OPEN ARMS. Without hesitation.

Oh yeah: and don't count on having T. Jones in 2011. He has a great chance to be 1 and done.

So, if Pitino calls Teague and convinces him to renege in his commitment to UK and go to Louisville, you wouldn't have a problem with that?

You can't have it both ways, WMR.

As for the comments about Cal being shady, sure, he is. Two lost Final Fours and the perception of guilt pretty much guarantees that. If he were somewhere else, you'd be *****ing about him more than Card fans.

Leave Jones alone. He made his decision.

Jones called Cal. If Teague wanted to call Pitino that would be his right.

'Leave Jones alone' ??? Is someone bothering him?

Actually he hasn't made his decision because he didn't sign the papers that were right in front of him.

Call Cal shady all you want. I just happen to think that title of 'shadiest coach in America' should go to a coach who, you know, has PERSONALLY committed NCAA infractions. I never know if you're playing dumb on purpose or if your opinion just changes from day to day. You've called the personal charges against Cal frivolous in this very thread....

Not according to published reports in Seattle, he didn't. It said Cal called Jones.

Sure, he did. Just as Teague has. Just as Gilchrist has. He's verballed to a school. "I plan on going to the University of Connecticut." That should be enough for anyone.

And, on another note, you're really claiming that UK isn't one of the prime offenders in NCAA history? Really? I know you're a UK apologist, but c'mon, man. They've been caught doing some pretty major things, among them: shaving points, paying players, and commiting academic fraud. Those're like the Unholy Trinity of NCAA cheating.
