    Fun and Interesting NFL Stat

Listening to Houston sportstalk yesterday and the host noted that for the
14th consecutive season a team that had lost at least 10 games the previous season won at least 10 games. Pretty remarkable. With that in mind look at the teams that lost double-digit games in 2009 and pick one that will reach double-digit wins in 2010.

    St. Louis Rams 1-15
    Detroit Lions 2-14
    Tampa Bay Bucs 3-13
    Washington Redskins 4-12
    Kansas City Chiefs 4-12
    Cleveland Browns 5-11
    Oakland Raiders 5-11
    Seattle Seahawks 5-11
    Buffalo Bills 6-10

Simply because of the division they play in I will go with Seattle. Good luck picking the winner from that pile of flotsam and jetsam.

Washington - They will spend some serious money.
Oakland - Dysfunctional but have serious talent. If they find a QB look out.

If they keep Russell benched and Al Davis away from the draft, the Raiders.

I'll go with Detroit or Buffalo if I have to pick. Just have a feeling that they'll do better next year.

They've always spent serious money but I agree - or at least hope - that you're right. But the reason I think it's possible is because they have a real GM (Bruce Allen) for the first time in eons and are supposedly close to hiring a real coach (Shanahan).

Kansas City. Charles is a really good back and I tjink Cassel is decent. Bowe is a solid reciever as well. They do need som defensive help.

Seattle. Weak division. Good QB usually. Need a big back in the draft, then who knows.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Also, if one of these teams can get their hands on Ndamukong Suh, they get a big edge on D.

I think it's safe to assume that Suh will be a Ram next year.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Rams tried to get out of the pick and land somewhere to take a QB. They could, theoretically, swap down 2 spots with Tampa Bay and still land their choice of Bradford / McCoy or Claussen (since Detroit, at #2, isn't taking a QB) without having to give up the cheddar for a #1 overall pick.

That's assuming they grade out 1 of those 3 as a franchise QB.

They drafted Keith Null in the 6th round last year so he's going to get his chance. You have to cut him some slack, last season he was playing Division II college football at West Texas A&M.

If the Rams pass up an opportunity to add picks AND draft a franchise quarterback because they think Suh is just too special to pass up, that's logic I can understand.

If the Rams pass up an opportunity to add picks AND draft a franchise quarterback because they think some kid who couldn't crack a D1 roster is their quarterback of the future, then they just plain deserve to continue losing.
