Here, it doesn't have to snow to cause panic. Our local "weather authorities" create havoc simply by implying that the temps MAY dip below freezing overnight. People don't buy up bread, milk, bottled water, but they do buy up pipe insulation.

A friend of mine asked me to go to the WWII museum with her, but "not this weekend, it'll be too cold." (It will be cold, but clear and sunny.) (projected high sat 37, low 18, and that's plenty cold for us.)
That is a top-notch museum, BTW. A real treasure you folks have down there.

Did you see the film in the victory theatre? I'm curious how that is. They're still expanding, and won't be finished until 2014.

Started as the "DDay museum" but now it's turning into much, much more.

    Glad you liked it.

Oh man that is funny, I wish we would have archived a lot of these one liners that each of you post sometimes, they are funny, and would come in handy if it really did snow.

How much snow are they projecting in Cincy? We're supposed to get 3 to 8 inches here around Charleston.

It's been snowing up here constantly for almost a week. Got about 6" in the initial snow fall and a constant light accumulation has added another 6" to my back deck. In NE Ohio, we've been surprised that we didn't get this kind of snow in late November/early December. Just waiting for Lake Erie to freeze over and cut off the snow machine.

It's fun watching the trucks go to work around here. It's a source of pride to the Minnesotans.
Minnesotans are worthy rivals to Syracusans.

(Passed 50 inches for the season, more than half since the weekend.)

Not even an inch on the ground here in Bloomington yet, and schools are closed.

I backed out of the driveway at 7 am and there was nary a flake of snow in the air. But yet Mason schools are cancelled for the day. They already had a 2 hour delay last night at 7 pm. Its just beginning to snow out here in Fairfield. They could have had all the kids at school by now before it all hit.

One thing about cars is that there are many more of them on the road than 30 years ago. The volume is much higher.

When I pulled into work today, they had spread a sand/gravel/dirt mixture all over the parking lot. It looks terrible and I wonder how effective it will be against 3-5" of snow.

That's lame and it's the same here too.

No, I only toured the museum portion. Starting out as the D-Day Museum makes a lot of sense. About 50% of the museum is devoted to the invasion. But what I saw was nothing short of an excellent narrative of the war without getting bogged down in tactics.

The thing that surprised me was that my girlfriend enjoyed it more than I did. And I'm the history nut.

They've done that out here before but only when a blizzard is expected. Don't want kids trapped in the school. The teachers would go crazy. It's very rare though obviously.

You have to get the kids home, once you get them there.

Sounds like Cincinnati should hold a Winter French Toast Festival to get rid of all that excess bread.

    That's understandable when there's a blizzard expected.
